I’m Brian Becker. I am a fine arts and commercial photographer, and teacher. I studied photography at New York University and painting at The Art Student’s League in New York City.
I’ve apprenticed and worked with some of our masters in photography, and have many influences including: Anthony Barboza,(who I assisted for many years), W. Eugene Smith, Minor White, Ralph Gibson, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Henri Cartier Bresson, Andre Kertesz, Josef Koudelka, Edward Weston, Bill Brandt, Don McCullin, Raymond Depardon, William Klein, Robert Frank, Roy DeCarava, Diadoh Moryama, Shomie Tomatsu, Eikoh Hosoe, Stephan Shore, Joel Meyerowitz, Eugene Richards, Bruce Davidson, Lee Friedlander, Gary Winogrand, Saul Letter, Dianne Arbus, Lisette Model, George Hurrel, Robert Capa, Weegee, Helen Levitt, David Douglas Duncan, Burke Uzzle, Larry Clark, James Nachtwey, Jill Freedman, Berenice Abbott, Robert Adams, and Brassai.
I grew up in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, and Florida. I live in Connecticut.
